reality is an illusion. synapscape are back to once again use our illusions and alter our realities. a movement of monumental intensity, at times showing an unexpectedly accessible side of this noxious duo. but then again, synapscape always exploit the unexpected. relentless dance tracks intermingle with unnerving experimentation, spanning a diverse array of affects throughout the course of this excursion. synapscape dichtomize sound, utilizing an incredible vast spectrum of noises and structures, waxing layer upon layer gritty texture, spacy effects, and absolutely pummeling rhythm. electronic industrial music which varies from dark sounddrones and powerful electronic rhythms up to ambient soundscapes which shows you the structures of your inner mind. structured patterns are changing with obscure soundscapes and sometimes you hear a voice which seems to come from outer space. reality is an illusion because your illusion is a possible kind of reality. just discover what it means... synapscape is tim kniep (from the noiseband blendwerk) and philipp münch (from m.o.a.t.a.-omen & ars moriendi). with uncompromising harshness and sheer force, ...

sonic boom, jan 98
ranging from the thundering percussion of 'how do you feel?', to the slow wafting of 'intravan', synapscape provides appropriate imagery for all aspects of "rage", their second full length album. while likely not a concept album, the tracks on "rage" seem to mimic the entire range of emotions one experiences when angry. each track hilights apsects of violence, from the turbulence of "nosefist", to the focused aggression of "noped". musically, synapscape does an excellent job of composing music that flows together in almost a seemless manner with a wide variety of acidic percussion and sequencing. as usual with those acts on ant-zen records, synapscape is firmly entrenched in the power noise movement, so they sculpture their music from extremely abrasive sample sources, while the music retains a sense of wild, unfocused beauty making it appealing to experimental freaks in the world.
don muerte <donmuert@ix.netcom.com> dayton, ohio
among many of the other great acts emerging from germany with the flag of ant zen records leading the way, this band is sure to be influential in the evolution of industrial music. using a style already established and made famous by dirk ivens of dive, they make some quite harsh tunes that are still dancable as well. it's distorted, contorted, and noisey. certainly not for the faint of heart. good album, great record label. best tracks: how do you feel?, my last secret, lifted maniac, no sin
damn # 15 . 23
synapscape are a prime example of the noisy thythmic battery that their label, ant-zen, likes to promote. rage opens with "intravan", a quirky bit of feedback sqeal and spacey blips: tonally this veers into black lung "bleep and drone" territory, very desolate and edgy. "how do you feel?! really kicks things into gear with kamikaze distorted synth crunch, acid gargled vocals, and pummeling rhythmx: "noisefist" is a caustic uppercut recordet from within mike tyson`s right glove (when he`s not hungry...); "fade" abrasively pulses without embracing any percussion, a knot of tension that is never unraveled: "surface" fries speakers at a clip that would give dirk ivens (dive/sonar) an erection. the whole disc is reminiscent of the dive/sonar school of distorted rhythm; synapscape avoid monotony by adding a healthy dose of unrestrained weirdness and tonal variety. a much stronger, full-bodied release than their interesting self-titled debut.
