party guy: "hey, you got converter?"
party girl: "can you play converter, that track on this industrial compilation?"
party people: "heeey dj! play 'domination'!!!" there is a theory that track 2 on a cd is the cd's "hit". on this 2cd package, track 2 is 'domination' - enough said. two years after the first 'expansion' came out, we present the second strike. this expansion contains unreleased material, live tracks and remixes by industrial icons like sonar and ambient masters like architect and displacer. scott sturgis' musical variety is amazing, ranging from heavily distorted industrial beat attacks to dark ambient soundscapes. 'expansion 2.0' tracks range from the 'shock front' to 'exit ritual' period - which perfectly documents sturgis' improvement. instead of repeating a successful concept over and over again, scott experimented with new influences and various styles. he even has enough balls to communicate with satan herself - as it is documented here. this is a highly recommended addition to your converter collection. and if you're a dj then vsatisfy the party people - play 'monster death'! converter. broken thistle. t-shirt. ikon 52 black shirt w/ frontprint in charcoal-metallic and red colour.available in size M, L, XL and as a one-sized girlie-shirt converter. blast furnace. cd. ant-zen act113 blast furnace is the second toxic candy by the seattle-based project converter. the constructor, scott sturgis, melds a tribal inferno of paranoid intensity and barbaric sweetness. paranoid and threatened atmospheres of power noise and analogue electronics. it is pure, technoid rhythm noise and obscure frightening ambient. re-pressing with new full-colour artwork. packaging: jewelcase, 4 page booklet.
basic 10.2k3 converter. exit ritual. cd. act 163 tracklist: dronr(itual), bloodsex, nightmare machine, cloud eye, in ruins..., order/creature, gateway rite, soulstealer, night swallows day, fallen. converter's music is oftenly described as 'power noise' - which means, in this case, rhythmic noise. as for 'shock front' this description was spot on. on 'blast furnace', converter added a dark ambient styling to the rhythmic rage; which was quite a surprise for the "hit the dance floor noise addicts". however, this combination worked perfectly. after "expansion" which contained older and brand new material, lots of listeners asked "where does this highway lead to?". converter's aural universe was always desolate and sometimes threatening. "exit ritual" continues this path but this time around sturgis' uses his nightmarish sound injections in a more subtle way. so, can we still speak of 'power noise'? sure we can ! sturgis intensified the dark mood and slowed down the beats - it also seems that he explored the roots of industrial. just listen to 'in ruins...', a punching, slow loop and harsh metallic clashes which could have been taken right out of an old s.p.k. tune - anyone remember 'leichenschrei'? maybe, the listeners of scandinavian 'death industrial' will also love this cd? for example, the deep drones and foggish vocal samples in 'dronr(itual)'. yes, this is a rhythmic but listening at home is recommended (for most of the tracks). if you think the entire cd is a 'moody one' then check out 'order/creature' and you will march right into volunteered slavery! converter still has some hard candy to offer - fasten your seat belts - as you never know where this journey will lead... ant-zen is proud to present converter's third full-length masterpiece.

basic 04.99 converter is the brainchild of scott sturgis, an ohio based one man electro-consortium and also the force behind the project pain station. converter investigates the industrial field, without denying its roots. his debut features ten tracks of hard hitting, noise tinged electro-industrial that reflects scott's growing interest in such rhythm-driven sound and represents a mature work in the same vein as other artists of the ant-zen family as p·a·l, imminent starvation and noisex, as well as well known rhythmic noise innovators like dive and esplendor geometrico. "shock front" is loaded with infectious, and penetrating rhythms begging to light the way to the dancefloors. tracks like "conqueror", "shock front" and "denogginizer" assault the listeners with a mutated strain of machine-driven rhythms and a turbulent downpour of torrential electronics which create an infectious hybridization that demands movement on the dancefloors. bombastic rhythms are coupled with tweaked synths to create an atmosphere of distorted aggression and the burning fires of this inferno will show no mercy in their relentless attack on your senses. sturgis creates paranoid, intense and threatened atmospheres incorporating elements of power noise and analogue electronics. the result causes anger and frustration, a battering of synths with distorted beats which pound out a message of rage and pain. the force behind this project is stronger than any avalanche and is reinforced by a wall of impenetrable percussion on nearly every track. the listener is baited and lured into the labyrinth of soul-penetrating anthems driven by electronic abuse and violation. after listening to this debut you feel like you've just witnessed the death by electrocution of the world's most evil mass murderer. with the release of "shock front", converter will place itself on the forefront of the so called power noise movement in one single step and proves how complex and massive this music can be. a project to watch out for, not only for its musical talent, but also for what it will do to the U.S. industrial scene. "shock front" will be followed by a vinyl release of unreleased material and remixes entitled coma on hymen records. the 'shock front' cd was voted as album of the month june '99 at the online magazine 'the new empire'. the 'shock front' cd was voted as 'potenzerreger des monats' (one of the best 10 cd's) in may/june '99 by the german magazine 'bodystyler'.
